Kolchak: The Night Stalker - episode 11 (The Spanish Moss Murders)

release year: 1974
genre: TV horror/suspense
viewing setting: home DVD, 11/22/05

what Kolchak faces in this episode: Peremalfait, a mossy swamp creature brought to life in someone's dreams.

impressions: It was pretty good. The monster came from some Louisiana guy's subconscious, some kind of manifestation of his childhood fears. The guy was in a deep-sleep experiment and when his brain patterns shot up (dreaming) the monster appeared and killed people who he knew, or who it felt were threatening it. This episode ends with a fairly spooky trip to the sewers to find the monster. For the second straight episode, the monster is played by Richard Kiel ("Jaws" from a couple of James Bond movies.)
