Kolchak: The Night Stalker - episode 13 (Horror in the Heights)
release year: 1974
genre: TV horror/suspense
viewing setting: home DVD, 11/29/05
what Kolchak faces in this episode: The Rakshasa, a mythical Indian monster that changes it appearance in order to help it consume human flesh.
impressions: This was a good one. The monster was good, there was plenty of tension, and a major red herring kept the viewer guessing. I will say that at this point, I'm getting tired of pseudo-mythical monsters that are tied to some legend or superstition - for once, I'd like to see an army of killer bugs or something like that. This episode also featured some good sarcastic Kolchak moments. Final note: I'd like to know what happened to the monster's body at the end; it seems that Kolchak would have had some definite proof there.
