Lake Placid 2

release year: 2007
genre: horror/drama
viewing setting: home DVD, 11/8/08

synopsis: A variety of characters either team up to fight, or become snacks for, a family of gigantic crocodiles.

impressions: This was suitably entertaining, though it felt like a retread of the first one with different characters and a higher body count. There was a little bit of CGI, some gratuitous flesh (which had a 100% kill rate, incidentally) and decent acting and tension.

body count: 13 humans, 1 wild boar, 0 dogs, 0 white rabbits, multiple giant crocs

something this movie has that no other movie has: A guy who attacks a giant crocodile with a knife, and wins/survives...and then tries it again with another giant crocodile later that day. You've got to know when to hold 'em, and when to walk away, and when to run.

acting: John Schneider (yes, Bo Duke!) was the sheriff who kept a steady head throughout the mayhem. Sarah Lafleur is the fish and wildlife chick. Sam McMurray is an annoying hunter. Chad Collins is the sheriff's son. Cloris Leachman is the old lady who appears to have been nurturing the crocodiles, and who later gets a chance to nurture them personally.

final word: Good fun; if you liked the first movie, you'll like this sequel.
