Lavalantula

release year: 2015
genre: cheesy monster horror/action
viewing setting: home streaming 4/30/22/span>

synopsis: Volcanoes erupt all over Los Angeles, emitting fire-breathing spiders.

impressions: This was actually not that cheesy. If you can get past the idea of fire-spitting spiders living inside volcanoes that suddenly pop up all over Los Angeles, then you'll be okay here. The acting and action outweighed the stupid parts, and this was fun to watch.

body count: Dozens.

acting: An older, buffed-up Steve Guttenberg is the main guy, an action movie star who must now be a hero in real life. Nia Peeples is his wife of action. There are others, some of whom starred in various Police Acedemy movies in the 1980s with the first two. Ian Ziering has a cameo as his character runs off to fight sharks.

final word: Silly but entertaining.
