The Legend of Tarzan

"A normal man can do the impossible to save the woman he loves. My husband is no normal man."    - Jane

release year: 2016
genre: jungle action
viewing setting: home Bluray, 5/14/17

synopsis: Reformed savage Tarzan is lured back to the wilds under false pretenses, but quickly shows everyone why he's the king of the jungle.

impressions: It was entertaining, and captured most of the greatness inherent in the character from the books. You have to understand that a man raised in the wild, where every moment brings danger and challenge, will be inherently stronger, faster, and smarter than his "civilized" counterparts. This has a good plot, insane amounts of action (notably the wild ramapage at 1:29) and some funny lines.

acting: Alexander Skaarsgard is good as the hero living in two worlds, and brings suitable physicality tothe role. Margot Robbie is his wife, who knows something of his potential if he's pushed. Samuel Jackson is an American along for the ride, who can both shoot and make jokes. Christoph Waltz is the ruthless, competent villain. Djimon Hounsou is a warrior chieftain.

final word: good Tarzan adventure
