Lionheart

release year: 1990
genre: martial arts
viewing setting: home DVD, 1/23/99
what I expected: Van Damme kicking ass
what I got: pretty much that

synopsis: A young man goes AWOL from the French army to come to America to avenge his murdered brother - and ends up fighting for money.

impressions: This was a bunch of good fights strung together by a good plot. It had some humor, too. Overall, it was watchable and action-packed.

acting: Decent. Van Damme didn't try to go out of his depth here.

final word: It's no Bloodsport, but it's still one of Van Damme's better movies.

rating: C+
