Mega Snake

release year: 2007
genre: giant monster horror
viewing setting: home DVD, 5/28/13

synopsis: An idiot steals a dangerous snake, after being warned that it will grow at an astronomical rate, and then lets it escape.

impressions: This was entertaining, if low budget. The snake was obviously CGI, but it looked fine to me. There was a high stupidity factor in the characters here - though they all paid the price for it (the stupid family, as well as all their farm animals, are the first to get eaten.) This movie has some interesting scenes with the mega snake slithering through a carnival feasting on various patrons trapped in rides.

body count: 18 humans, 1 kitten, 3 hens, 1 dog, 20 goats, 1 mega snake

acting: Michael Shanks is good as the main hero guy, who must overcome his fear of snakes and also figure out what he wants out of life (aside from living through this movie.) Siri Baruc is his love interest. Todd Jensen plays an obnoxious jerk of a sheriff.

final word: Decent monster movie.
