synopsis: This is a 9-part made-for-the-web series based on the Mortal Kombat franchise. Each episode deals with the backstory of one or more characters.

impressions: This was quite entertaining - like a bunch of mini Mortal Kombat movies. Each one had a purpose and could be watched independent of others with different main characters. The acting, secial effects, and fighting are all good to great. Episode briefs:
  • (1) cops Sonya Blade and Jax track crime lord Kano (part 1)
  • (2) cops Sonya Blade and Jax track crime lord Kano (part 2)
  • (3) fallen action star Johnny Cage can't seem to catch a break
  • (4) Kitana and Mileena become the adopted daughters of the Emperor, Shao Kahn (part 1)
  • (5) Kitana and Mileena become the adopted daughters of the Emperor, Shao Kahn (part 2)
  • (6) a depowered Raiden is imprisoned and tortured in a mental hospital
  • (7) the man who will eventurally become Scorpion sees his family and clan destroyed by rival Sub-Zero (part 1)
  • (8) the man who will eventurally become Scorpion sees his family and clan destroyed by rival Sub-Zero (part 1)
  • (9) ninja warriors Crrax and Sektor are made into cybernetic killing machines

  • acting: There are a lot of parts here. Michael Jai White and Jeri Ryan are the most well-known cast members.

final word: Interesting expansion of what came before in this franchise.
