Mr. Majestyk

release year: 1974
genre: action/drama
viewing setting: home DVD, 1/9/04

synopsis: A melon farmer stands up to some tough guys and ends up fighting for his life.

impressions: This is an average Bronson movie. His character is a little too laid back and waits too long to take action, and even then he makes some questionable decisions. If he'd done in the beginning what he waited until the end to do, a lot of pain would have been spared. Also, this seemed more like a "PG" effort than an "R" effort.

things to watch for: The cross-country car chase. That truck was built Ford tough!

something this movie has that no other movie has: Annihilation of thousands of watermelons with machine guns.

acting: Bronson does a good job with his character, I just think the character was slow to take action. Al Lettieri is menacing as a dim-witted hitman. Paul Koslo is downright weasel-ly as a local punk.

final word: Worth seeing, but takes a while to get the violence going.
