The Mummy
release year: 1932genre: early horrorviewing setting: home VHS 10/28/00 and home DVD, 12/28/99what I expected: no ideawhat I got: dated horror movie with no horror
synopsis: An ancient mummy is awakened and goes about reincarnating his ancient bride.
impressions: Well...let me tell you what this _didn't_ have: a bandage-wrapped hulk lurching around beating the crap out of people. No, this was a thinking mummy, in fact one who quickly reverted to human form after being brought back to life. He plotted and tricked people and went after the girl who was the reincarnation-to-be of his old bride. It was worth seeing, but it wasn't what I thought it would be.
acting: Boris Karloff made a good villain. The protagonists all did decent jobs too.
final word: Classic in its day, somewhat outdated now.
rating: C
