Navy SEALs

Hawkins: "For God's sake, be careful out there!"
Ramos: "If I was going to be careful, I'd have joined the Coast Guard."

release year: 1991
genre: action
viewing setting: home Bluray 10/19/14 and home DVD 2/17/01

synopsis: A team of elite soldiers deals with a terrorist group.

impressions: This movie covers the exploits of a team of Navy SEALs, and mostly, it does a good job of conveying important aspects (the attitude, the teamwork, the capabilities, the letting-off of steam.) It has one flaw, in that a maverick like the Charlie Sheen character would not make it far in the Teams. Aside from this, it's realistic; in spite of this, it's action-packed and entertaining.

acting: Michael Biehn was low-key here compared to his other roles as a SEAL (The Abyss, The Rock.) Charlie Sheen was the gung-ho wildman, and somewhat irritating though also fun to watch. Bill Paxton, he of the myriad supporting roles, is the team's sniper. Aside from the guy who was going to get married, none of the other team members really stuck in my head.

final word: Solid action movie and pretty good representation of the SEALs.
