Ninja: Shadow of a Tear

release year: 2013
genre: martial arts action/drama
viewing setting: home Bluray 8/27/18

synopsis: After his family is killed and he gets revenge, American ninja Casey finds that there's more to it than that.

impressions: This contained elements of Alien 3 (as far as callously killing off surviving characters from the orevious movie, which felt kind of cheap) and Perfect Weapon (as far as the hotheaded protagonist being tricked into doing something to help the secret bad guy.) No matter - the fights were good, which is all that can be asked for in a modern martial arts action movie.

acting: Scott Adkins returns, using his deadly fighting skills for revenge this time. Kane Kosugi, all grown up from his Revenge of the Ninja days, is the sensei of another school. Vithaya Pansringarm is a corrupt local official.

final word: Like the first ne, this is somewhat flawed but has great action scenes.
