Pawn Stars, volume 5

release year: 2011
genre: reality/documentary
viewing setting: home DVD, 11/14-19/2016

synopsis: The Gold and Silver pawn shop has been open in Las Vegas for twenty years, and features a group of employees that's just as varied and unusual as the items that are brought into the store on a daily basis.

impressions: This "volume 5" DVD set contains episodes 79 (Darth Pawn) through 94 (Take a Seat.) You can find a complete summary here. The items that I liked the most included one of Isaac Newton's books from the 1500s (episode 80), a WWII armored car (episode 84), the gigantic car-destroying Robosaurus (episode 85), a nice set of a $500 and a $1000 bill (episode 86), a replica Batmobile (episode 88), and a missile's guidance system (episode 92.)

acting: n/a, but there are really four main personalities here, plus some experts who are interesting and know their stuff. There were several side plots in this group of episodes, including Corey putting Chumlee's keys inside the claw machine, the shop's computers crashing, and the Old Man getting a nice new office.

final word: Never dull, always entertaining slice of life in a pawn shop.
