Plague of the Zombies
release year: 1966genre: Hammer horrorviewing setting: home DVD, 12/1/99what I expected: no ideawhat I got: mediocre horror movie
synopsis: People are dying and coming back to life and walking around.
impressions: Much like Reptile, it was a well-made movie, but it wasn't that exciting. I find that I prefer the Hammer vampire/Dracula movies. It seems that the Hammer philosophy in the 60s was to hit on all facets of horror, not just vampires. This is fine, as it generated a variety of different movie themes; they're just not all GREAT movies.
body count: 1 who gets killed twice (the second time as a zombie) plus 5 offscreen at the end.
acting: Decent. The main female protagonist quickly proved to not only be naive, but utterly helpless as well. No women's lib in this movie.
final word: Okay, but not really scary.
rating: C-
