Psycho
release year: 1998genre: horrorviewing setting: theater, 12/13/98what I expected: the same old shitwhat I got: a 1990s remake of a 1950s classic
synopsis: Weird things are afoot at the Bates Motel.
impressions: It's been a long time since I saw the original Psycho. I didn't expect much from this one, but to be honest, it was thoroughly entertaining. Essentially a scene-for-scene remake, it was newer, but not different. By today's horror movie "standards", the original was pretty tame - only two murders. This one is, of course, identical in that respect. My two hours wasn't wasted, but I will not need to see this again.
acting: William Macy, as Inspector Arbogast, seemed to do a better job than anyone else.
final word: Worth seeing, but it's a rerun.
rating: C
