Queer Eye season 7

release year: 2023
genre: TV reality show (7 episodes)
viewing setting: home streaming 5/12/23

synopsis: Five makeover experts, each with a specific area of expertise, work together to help people badly in need of new looks or escape from their ruts in life.

impressions: More of the same, like all previous seasons. The guys continue to find and help people who (to be blunt) usually need a kick in the ass and some tips. This season takes place in New Orleans, and they do a bit more cursing this time, and only the word "fuck" gets bleeped out. People helped in this season:
a small group of fraternity members who live like slobs, rather than up to their potential
a lesbian super-sports fan who has lost her confidence
a wheelchair-bound TikTok-er who refuses to let his bad luck get him down
a school admininstrator who has focused on her job instead of her love life
a deli owner who needs to spend more time and attention on his girlfriend
a formerly-incarcerated thrift store owner who has forgotten how to enjoy life and family
a young urban agricultirist who doesn't see his potential

acting: There are five members of this cast, and each has a particular area of expertise (food, fashion, culture/relationships, design, grooming.) This season was completely lacking in blatant or subtle political commentary, which was nice.

final word: Entertaining, fun, and practical; it really showcases some great and unique people as well as how a little help can do a long way in their lives.
