Rambo 3

Masoud: "Have you not seen enough death? Go! Go while you can! This isn't your war."
Rambo: "It is now."

release year: 1988
genre: action/adventure
viewing setting: home Bluray 7/6/22 and home DVD 4/2/17 and 8/16/09 and 2/8/99

synopsis: Rambo refuses a mission, so the government sends his mentor, who gets captured. Rescue time!

impressions: Basically okay, though it seemed to deliberately have less brutal violence than the others in the series. As usual, there was a cause to be championed here, along with the evil Russian foes in their HIND war helicopters. As many have said, technically the allies of Rambo in this movie are the same people who are now our enemies in Afghanistan, but who can predict the future?

something this movie has that no other movie has: Stick fighting where the combatants actually have respect for each other.

acting: Stallone does a good job reprising his role as someone who really doesn't want to keep doing the things he's best at - but is still lethally good at it. Richard Crenna is the guy who trained him to be like that. Sasson Gabai is the Afghan rebel who helps them.

final word: Good solid action fare.
