Relic

release year: 1997
genre: horror
viewing setting: theater, 1/13/97
what I expected: a monster movie
what I got: a pretty good monster movie

synopsis: The depths (and denizens) of a big, dark museum are haunted by a genetically-adaptable mutation from eons past.

impressions: This one gripped me right up til the end. Ultimately, it suffered from the same problem as many horror movies: expectation of seeing the monster is greater than actually seeing it. Still, I was entertained. It was nice to see a bunch of stupid characters get what they deserved - I wanted to cheer.

acting: Good to passable, nothing exceptional.

final word: Worth watching, and very spooky at times.

rating: C
