Road House 2: Last Call

release year: 2006
genre: action
viewing setting: home DVD, 11/22/06

synopsis: When his uncle is beaten by drug dealers, a young cop heads to Louisiana to run the uncle's club and get some revenge.

impressions: This was actually pretty good - it had a tight, sensible plot, good acting, and of course plenty of action. There were some ties to the original movie, too, both in the plot and in some of the lines. That's really all I have to say about the movie; it truly was a pleasant surprise.

something this movie has that no other movie has: a knock-down, drag-out fight between two non-martial artist women

acting: Johnathon Schaech is the young agent, and does a good job with both the acting and the fighting. Jake Busey is the local drug lord, and gives a great over-the-top performance that reminds me of his father's best roles. Ellen Hollman is the smart, competent local girl who befriends the hero. Will Patton is the uncle, who can also fight (it looks like every character, except for one certain thug, can fight in this movie.) Richard Norton is the bad guy behind the scenes.

final word: Very good action movie, in the spirit of the original but yet with different aspects - worth seeing.
