RoboCroc
"I'm a soldier. There’s nothing on this earth that I don’t know how to kill. But taking something like that alive...it’s a different story." - Colonel Montgomery
release year: 2013
genre: giant monster cheese
viewing setting: home DVD, 8/4/21
synopsis: A zoo's prized giant crocodile is infused with nanobots from a crashed satellite and begins to change into a metal beast that makes its way to the water park next door.
impressions: The above "synopsis" sentence should clue you in to what this movie's all about. As might be expected, there were some things that didn't make sense...what exactly was happening to the croc?...how did it have a heads-up display given that no actual technology was implanted in its body?...why was it eating when it lacked a stomach or the need to eat after a point?...why would anyone build a water park next to a zoo, with shared water pipes? There are a number of cliche characters here as well (the evil scientist with an attitude, the tough military commander, the goofy sidekick.) All in all, it didn't make much sense - and as a TV movie, didn't have any blood, guts, etc..
acting: Corin Nemec is the main zoo guy, and plays this role tongue-in-cheek. Lisa McAllister is cute and competent as his helper. Steven Hartley is the crusty military guy. Dee Wallace is the evil scientist lady with the tablet computer that can apparently do anything.
final word: Minimally entertaining.
