Santa Jaws

Jena: "Why do its eyes look like THAT?"
Peter: "They glow like Rudolph's nose."

release year: 2018
genre: monster horror
viewing setting: home DVD, 11/12/19

synopsis: Angry teenager + magic pen + wild imagination = vicious shark with a Christmas theme.

impressions: This shark movie was meant, moreso than the others at least, to be part comedy, and it has a lot of funny lines and situations. It also has a shark that swims around with a Christmas hat on its fin and a string of Christmas lights on its tail, makes jingling bell sounds, and is "attracted to anything Christmas." The only thing I can add to that last sentence is that this thing was created by a magic pen used by an overly-imaginative and artistic kid, accidentally creating Santa Jaws in the real world.

acting: Reid Miller is the main kid, and his hairdo and general attitude call back to Edward Furlong in Terminator 2. Courtney Lauren Cummings is his neighbor/crush who proves competent. Jim Klock is his goofy friend.

final word: This is a different kind of cheesy shark movie, more intentionally a comedy, and is worth seeing for the laughs alone.
