Saw 2

release year: 2005
genre: drama/horror
viewing setting: home DVD, 6/24/06

synopsis: A twisted but clever killer places his victims in elaborate traps that require certain sacrifices if the victim wants to live.

impressions: This was a good sequel, using a plot-within-a-plot and a major twist ending to keep viewers guessing. It had a bit of gore (the worst of it involving an eye and a scalpel, but also some needles) and when all was said and done, the plot(s) made good sense. I didn't want to watch this to begin with, but I have to admit I was entertained. I can't argue with the logic of the killer: people often don't appreciate life and could use a reminder.

something this movie has that no other movie has: Someone falling into a pit full of syringe needles.

acting: Donnie Wahlberg was the main cop, and had help from Dina Meyer. The victms were all competent actors who did good jobs.

final word: Good sequel that stands on its own too.
