Saw 3

release year: 2007
genre: mystery/horror
viewing setting: home DVD, 6/9/07

synopsis: We are treated to a further elaboration of the schemes and motivations of the Jigsaw killer and his apprentice, with a healthy dose of gore thrown in.

impressions: It was good, with some shocking stuff at the end. The ideas of revenge and forgiveness were explored rather deeply. I think this franchise has pretty much played itself out and needs to stop here, while it is ahead. I don't have much more to say about it without spoiling anything.

something this movie has that no other movie has: Open-skull surgery with a power drill.

final word: Let's hope it ends here - there's nothing substantial left for the franchise except the making of more money from inferior sequels.
