Shark Attack 2

"What about these sharks? They definitely have a taste for human flesh."   - Roy

release year: 2000
genre: shark drama
viewing setting: home DVD 12/1/21

synopsis: Once again, unusually aggressive sharks menace people off a coast in Africa.

impressions: This one was definitely a sequel to the first one, in that some of those sharks escaped and are living near a populated coast, which pretty much means their buffet lunch is always close by. I've decided to just list things I found noteworthy in this movie: unexplained path from shark tank right to ocean, manly Australian shark hunter, needless romantic interlude, stupid mayor, evil businessman, evil young yuppie henchman of evil businessman, a pack of sharks, shark cages yet again offering little protection, topless women on the beach, the hero running in slow motion to try and save someone, sharks that growl underwater as they attack, lots of blood and gore, a softcore sex scene in the pool, shaky underwater camera work during shark attacks. All in all, it was fairly well-done and kept my attention.

body count: 8 confirmed shark kills

acting: Thorsten Kaye is the main scientist and man of action. Nikita Ager is the woman whose sister got eaten by one of the sharks, and who joins Thorsten to stop them. Daniel Alexander is the buff, tan, cocky shark hunter and TV star. Danny Keogh is the evil businessman and water park owner.

final word: Fairly entertaining "normal" shark action.
