Sharknado 5

Prime Minister: "Man, every time there’s a Sharknado you’re right in the middle of it. What are the chances of that?"
Fin: "One hundred percent."

release year: 2017
genre: cheesy monster horror/action
viewing setting: home streaming 4/23/22

synopsis: Fin and friends/family alternately evade and fight various sharknadoes...and other nadoes too.

impressions: It's out of control. Now we have, among other things, sharknadoes that teleport, a radioactive shark-mass, a secret sisterhood that works worldwide to combat sharknadoes, and even time travel. I couldn't keep up with the nonsense, and actually dozed off near the end. Notable minor roles and cameos I noticed: Chris Kattan, Clay Aiken, Bret Michaels, Nichelle Nichols, Geraldo Rivera, Olivia Newton-John, Tony Hawk, Fabio, Margaret Cho, Gilbert Gottfried (again.)

acting: Ian Ziering is back as the main hero, who's completely given up on trying to understand the events that seem to swirl around him like a tornado full of...oh, right. Tara Reid is his bionic flying laser-firing wife. Cassie Screbo also returns as ally Nova. Billy Barratt is the son, and Dolph Lundgren appears late in the movie as another version of the son.

final word: I think they've finally jumped the shark with this one. It's that nuts.
