Shark Island (aka Shark Week)

release year: 2012
genre: drama/horror
viewing setting: home DVD, 8/22/21

synopsis: A group of people are kidnapped and brought to an island, where they are run through various lethal challenges involving sharks.

impressions: I don't know what I was expecting, but this was like Saw with sharks as part of each trap. Frankly, the less time I spend talking about this one, the better. Here's what you need to know: the characters are marginally interesting, with some being completely over the top...the shark scenes are all filmed in darkness and are hard to follow...and the bad guy's plot (including the way he watches events and controls things) is not just unrealistic, but downright idiotic.

acting: Patrick Bergin and Yancy Butler are the evil ones in charge of the island of traps. Joshua Michael Allen and Frankie Cullen are the most memorable of the victims.

final word: Marginally-entertaining bad shark movie without any giant/mutated sharks etc of any kind.
