The Six Million Dollar Man: The Seven-Million Dollar Man

episode number: season 2, episode 5 (1974)
viewing setting: home DVD, 1/24/11 and home VHS, 2/27/05

episode synopsis: Bionic spy Steve Austin learns of the existence of another cyborg, working for the same agency...but this guy's out of control and wants to use his new body to just do whatever the hell he wants

impressions: This was a good solid action episode which also dealt with the mental issues of having all four limbs destroyed, and then replaced. I guess it would be easy to get addicted to the thrill of being bionic. There are also some inherent trust issues - not only did they build another one of Steve (and stronger) but they deliberately kept it from him. I'd have been pretty upset, and even tempted to join the other, angrier bionic person in evil. There's good food for thought here.

notable guest star: Monte Markham, who's had a long and distinguished television career, is Barney (the other bionic man.) He does a pretty good, memorable job.

significant bionic antics: In addition to leaping over a fence and lugging away an 800-lb box, Steve does bionic battle with Barney several times.
