The Six Million Dollar Man: Straight on 'til Morning

episode number: season 2, episode 6 (1974)
viewing setting: home DVD, 1/25/11

episode synopsis: When an alien ship crashes, there is only one survivor. Steve helps the alien return to her mother ship, while the sheriff tries to capture her.

impressions: Finally...aliens! Steve sees something weird in the sky, and though he doesn't know it's a UFO, he still investigates. The aliens look like humans with gold paint on their faces, and if they touch humans, both are harmed (in fact, the aliens will die.) They also each have some power, like telekinesis, ESP, creating illusions. If only they'd had one who could heal the others. This is like E.T. eight years early, and with bionic help. Steve is pretty sympathetic to their plight, and even has to convince Oscar to back down (he wants to keep the last one to learn its secrets.) All in all, this was a good episode, lacking the action of episodes with more dangerous guests but far from boring.

notable guest star: Meg Foster (she of the weird piercing gray eyes, who had roles in favorites like Blind Fury and They Live) is the surviving alien who Steve helps.

significant bionic antics: Steve uses his eye to spot heat trails and the fake alien illusion, runs fast, and deflects boulders and logs.
