The Six Million Dollar Man: The Last Kamikaze

episode number: season 2, episode 14 (1975)
viewing setting: home DVD, 2/14/11

episode synopsis: When a plane carrying an atomic warhead crashes on a South Pacific island, Steve is sent to retreive it, but must deal with a Japanese pilot who thinks the war is still happening.

impressions: This one was pretty good - it had some jungle warfare, traps, tracking, and such. The concept of the isolated soldier who doesn't know that his war is over (and also doesn't know any other life) is always an interesting one, and this episode had a good ending. All in all, it was entertaining, action-packed, and had a good message.

notable guest star: John Fujioka, who trained the young hero of American Ninja, is the lone Japanese soldier who doesn't know (and won't believe) that the war ended thirty years ago. Movie, TV, and voice actor Robert Ito is a scout/tracker assigned to help Steve find the bomb.

significant bionic antics: Steve uses his eye to spot traps and such, uses his speed and throwing arm to grab not one but TWO different bombs and hurl them away, chases people through the jungle, and leaps out of a pit.
