The Six Million Dollar Man: Welcome Home Jaime (part 1)

episode number: season 3, episode 15 (1976)
viewing setting: home DVD, 3/29/11

episode synopsis: This is technically the pilot episode of The Bionic Woman series. Jaime gets her life in order and has her first real adventure as an OSI agent.

impressions: This episode finally wraps up some lingering loose ends, and sets up the series. Jaime is able to function and remember things without pain, she moves back to her hometown and gets a job, she wants to do missions for the OSI, and most importantly, someone finally tells her about her past with Steve and she spends some time talking with him. Also, she's driving the same model Datsun 240/260/280 ZX that Steve had in the last episode. So anyway, the same bad guy whose plans she disrupted in her last appearance figures out that she has some sort of special abilities and makes evil plans...plans that seem to be in motion as this episode concludes, to be continued in part II.

notable guest stars: Ford Rainey and Martha Scott return as Steve's parents (who are also Jaime's adopted parents.) Veteran TV actor Dennis Patrick is the bad guy.

significant bionic antics: Jaimie hears someone talking half a mile away, cleans up an attic apartment really fast, lifts an oven off the back of a truck, uses her fingernail as a can opener, hits a tennis ball through a chain-link fence, writes on a chalkboard really fast, rips a phone book in half to make a point to her students, and rips a door off of a burning car.
