The Six Million Dollar Man: U-509

episode number: season 4, episode 20 (1977)
viewing setting: home DVD, 7/13/12

episode synopsis: Steve must deal with a submarine full of nerve gas and ransom-demanding bad guys.

impressions: An old German U-boat with deadly gas, can't just be sunk because the gas is water-soluble. Good plot. Steve gets aboard as only he can, and then the fun begins. The bad guys consisted of just five, including the captain, and they were all British. I like how Steve knocks the captain down, then crushes his pistol in front of the others to assert his authority.

notable guest stars: Steve Sandor, a muscular actor who guest-starred in numerous TV shows (and was Lars in the classic Star Trek episode "The Gamers of Triskelion") is one of the bad guys here.

significant bionic antics: Steve rips apart a park bench, rips open a safe, breaks into a submarine 300 feet down, bends/breaks several pipes, snaps some handcuffs, pounds on the hull hard enough to make the people aboard think they got hit with depth charges, rips apart a fuse box, and crushes a gun to display his strength and make the bad guys surrender.
