Slither

release year: 2006
genre: horror
viewing setting: home DVD, 11/4/06

synopsis: A meteorite crashes, releasing an alien slug that lives to exterminate other life.

impressions: This was good old-fashioned horror, with slimy slug monsters that get inside people and turn them into controlled zombie-like things. There were a lot of humor bits thrown in, plus many references to other classic horror movies. The plot made pretty good sense, and moved along at a brisk pace.

something this movie has that no other movie has: Music from Air Supply playing as the alien monster prepares to mate with a human woman.

acting: Michael Rooker plays the guy who becomes the host to the alien, and is weird. Nathan Fillion is the sheriff who leads the fight against the aliens. Elizabeth Banks and Tania Saulnier are the other humans who survive the first wave of alien attack and have to try to survive and defeat the slugs.

final word: Good entertaining funny monster horror.
