Spider-Man: No Way Home

release year: 2021
genre: superhero action
viewing setting: theater 12/30/21

synopsis: Relatively immature teenage superhero tries to undo some events...and makes things much worse.

impressions: Disclaimer: I haven't watched any of the recent Spider-Man movies. In fact, the last one I did see was the 2004 one. This is because multiple reboots of things really piss me off. Anyway. This one was not only easily accessible for one such as me, but it also brought together elements of all past movies - and I can't say more without spoiling things, which I won't do. This was a great movie, with lots of action, drama, and special effects.

acting: Tom Holland returns for his third solo outing (not counting various other Marvel movies in which he appeared) and does a good job. "Zendaya" is his girlfriend, and the chemistry between them feels real. Jacob Batalon is his dorky best friend, and is often annoying. Benedict Cumberbatch has a significant role as Dr. Strange. Villains include Willen Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina, Thomas Haden Church, and Rhys Ifans. Marissa Tomei is Peter's aunt.

final word: Great job linking multiple continuities, much like X-Men: Days of Future Past did.
