Stand Tall

release year: 1997
genre: documentary
viewing setting: Youtube 12/28/21

synopsis: This documentary follows the preparation for the first-ever Masters Olympia in 1994.

impressions: The filmmakers clearly modeled this after Pumping Iron and that's fine, since that formula worked. This time, Lou Ferrigno is the main focus, with a close second on Boyer Coe (oddly enough, very little time is spent on Robbie Robinson, who was a strong contender with his own story.) There's a heavy focus on training and the motivation behind it. And it ends with the actual contest itself.

acting: n/a, really, but both contenders' stories are good to hear and see

final word: If you liked Pumping Iron then you should watch this.
