Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars

release year: 2017
genre: sci-fi/action
viewing setting: home streaming 1/12/23

synopsis: Rico is now in charge of a squad on Mars, which gets drawn into parger political and military events.

impressions: Another animated sequel, and more good fighting and violence against the alien bugs. Rico's squad is incompetent, but has to improve quickly when things get real. There's a major subplot involving political ambition and popularity (the latter of which made me wonder if the film's makers were poking fun at social media.) One plot criticism: I don't care how neat the armor and rifles look, it is NOT POSSIBLE for a handful of soldiers to hold back hundreds- or thousands-strong waves of bugs. They needed to realize this and retreat (and stop the random chatter too.) Not realistic.

acting: n/a but the voice work was again of high quality

final word: Entertaining animated continuation of this series; worth watching.
