Substitute 4: Failure Is Not An Option
release year: 2001
genre: action
viewing setting: home DVD 9/25/25
synopsis: Everyone's favorite mercenary (and occasional undercover substitute teacher) heads to a military academy and finds a group of white supremacists among the staff and students.
impressions: The basic plot shifts to a military academy and its commander, who's training his own little army of like-minded people (and sending them out on missions.) As before, there's a lack of direct action for most of the time which results in deaths that could have been prevented.
acting: Treat Williams is the main good guy, and does his thing again. Tim Abell is his friend who teaches hand-to-hand combat. Patrick Kilpatrick, veteran bad guy, is the evil commander here. Angie Everhart is the base doctor who seems to be an ally. Simon Rhee is an evil soldier.
final word: Decent action film of the same low-key sort as the other three in this series.
