Superman: Red Son

"This is a world where the strong rule. And you are the strongest of all of us."   - Diana

release year: 2020
genre: animated superhero drama/action
viewing setting: home Bluray 2/28/23 and 4/27/20

synopsis: In a familiar story, an infant Superman crash-lands on Earth...except he lands in the Soviet Union of the 1950s, and is raised as a Communist.

impressions: This was one of two variations on the Superman concept, and I watched them both in the same evening. So here we have a Superman supporting communism, not capitalism. There are appearances by alternate versions of Wonder Woman, Batman, Green Lantern, Lex Luthor, Lois Lane, and Brainiac. This Superman is not messing around, as demonstrated by his meeting with Stalin at the 21:15 mark. All in all, it had plenty of action and interesting alternative Superman elements.

acting: This was animated, but the quality and variety of the voice work was great. Jason Isaacs was the voice of Superman.

final word: Good, entertaining alternate-universe Superman tale.
