Survivors Guide to Prison

"Very few people have the psychological capacity to resist authority."   /span>

release year: 2018
genre: documentary
viewing setting: home DVD, 9/6/21

synopsis: Various people give evidence about how idiotic and unfair the U.S. court and jail system is.

impressions: First things first: this is NOT a guide to surviving in prison. It heads that way at first, but never really hits that potential. This is actually an expose on how screwed up the court and jail systems are, and they have some real-life examples. While I agree with most of what was said here, the problem is that they didn't outline any solutions. It's one thing to say "here's a gigantic convoluted problem that's ruining innocent lives and we need to do something" but unless you have a valid solution, you're only halfway there. Nevertheless, this documentary should be seen by everyone, to raise awareness of the problems with our system.

acting: n/a, but they had a number of celebrity and other narrators, not to mention a handful of people telling their stories about how the justice system failed them

final word: Worth seeing, despite the political bent; it will open your eyes.
