The Crow

release year: 1994
genre: dark action
viewing setting: home DVD, 3/7/03

synopsis: A murdered man, driven by the power of love and revenge, returns from the grave to wreak havoc on his slayers.

impressions: Grim and violent, this was Brandon Lee's last role before his accidental death. It's full of evil, revenge, fighting, and violence.

acting: Brandon Lee is excellent as the avenging soul who's dead yet still alive. Michael Wincott and some Oriental woman also do outstanding jobs as villains. Ernie Hudson plays the sympathetic yet confused cop who's trying to figure out what's going on. The little girl who plays Sarah is also good, giving us some narration and also a link between various protagonists.

final word: If you like the concept of revenge and can deal with the concept of loss, you will probably like this movie. It can be depressing though.
