The Foreigner

Bromley: "These are vicious men who take pride in their atrocities. Any attempt by you to contact them is likely to end very badly. Do you understand?"
Quan: "Yes."

release year: 2017
genre: action/drama
viewing setting: home Bluray 2/6/18

synopsis: After his daughter and only remaining blood relative is killed in a terrorist act, a restaurant owner calls upon skills from his previous occupation to find and punish the people responsible.

impressions: This was an odd mix of action movie, political drama, and spy thriller. There was a lot going on, there were a lot of plot twists and secrets, and the one guy's revenge was just a piece of the whole thing. Being older, the protagonist wasn't a super-sleek fighting machine like Stevel Seagal in 1987 but he got the job done, and used his brains as much as his fists and feet.

acting: Jackie Chan is the old, weary father who becomes extremely purposeful about getting his revenge. Pierce Brosnan is a generally-unlikeable ex-terrorist and current politician. Come to think of it, almost every character in this movie was unlikeable.

final word: Good thinking person's action movie.
