Thor: The Dark World

Volstaag: "If you even THINK about betraying him-"
Loki: "You'll kill me? Evidently there will be a line."

release year: 2013
genre: superhero action
viewing setting: home Bluray 2/24/21 and 2/28/14

synopsis: Thor and his friends must deal with a vengeful dark elf who wants to destroy the universe.

impressions: This was entertaining, but got weird with the whole time/space/realms thing. What I mean by that is that the physics and structure of the "nine realms" weren't ever explained, and so it was a bit confusing. No matter - there was a lot of fighting and some funny lines too.

acting: Chris Hemsworth is a wiser Thor than last time. Natalie Portman is his human love interest who (seemingly randomly) gets exposed to some weird magical stuff. Tom Hiddleston is the conniving, treacherous brother Loki. Anthony Hopkins is Odin, the all-powerful ruler of the gods. Idris Elba is the serious guardian Heimdall. Stellan Skarsgard is a sometimes-deranged human scientist. Christopher Eccleston is the evil dark elf.

final word: Good sequel that advances the overall Marvel superhero universe.
