To Catch A Smuggler, season 4

release year: 2022
genre: TV documentary show (12 episodes)
viewing setting: home streaming 6/11-18/23

synopsis: Homeland Security officers at different U.S. airports and border crossings go about their jobs daily, inspecting people, vehicles, luggage, and shipped goods for anything bad.

impressions: This season had a mix of airport gates/baggage claim, packages, and border control. Among the many highlights: puppy smuggling, maritime smuggling, dangerous lead on childrens' toys, human smuggling in a trunk, gun smuggling, ancient artifact smuggling, faulty COVID mask smuggling, a really belligerent passenger in episode 7, a whole cooked turkey in checked luggage, a couple of the dumbest kids ever in episode 7, cash smuggling, a lady who lost $4000 of her cash, a car full of 205 kg of meth, counterfeit COVID vaccination cards, one of the dumbest people ever to try and get into the U.S., in episode 10...a lady who forgot about the weed she was carrying...a drug dildo...$37,000 hidden in dirty laundry...a corrupt baggage handler in NYC.

acting: n/a but a number of the officers show up in multiple episodes, and you start to feel like you get to know them after a while.

final word: Highly entertaining look at the work done to protect the U.S. at its borers and airportsd.
