Tomb Raider

release year: 2001
genre: action/adventure
viewing setting: home DVD, 11/25/01

synopsis: Chesty adventuress tries to recover ancient artifact before the bad guys.

impressions: I do not play Tomb Raider video games. I know nothing about them beyond watching my ex-roommate scream at them for hours on end. I rented this movie to see cheesy, mindless action - and I was not disappointed. What we have here is a thin plot that serves to get the heroine from one escapade to the next. The action sequences are fast-moving and impressive, the ancient tombs well-crafted. That's about all there is to say about this movie, so I'll stop.

things to watch for: Angelina Jolie's breasts, which must have been wrapped tightly indeed to not bounce around more given her activity level in this movie.

acting: There is no denying it: Angelina Jolie IS Lara Croft...for whatever that's worth.

final word: Entertaining, though seeing it once seemed to be enough for me.
