Tremors: Bloodlines

"You don't capture these things, you kill them!"   - Burt

release year: 2015
genre: monster action/comedy
viewing setting: home DVD 1/21/23

synopsis: Burt and a new helper head to Africa to help deal with a new infestation.

impressions: The saga continues, this time on the third continent to be plagued with the underground worms and their related offspring. New development this time around: the burrowers' tentacles can detach and operate independently. Other things of note: African location and (mostly) cast, a weird drawn-out dual death scene in an outdoor shower, a couple of nods to the Die Hard franchise, a big plot twist/surpruse, a village united to work against the monsters, a complex final plan, everybody getting splatted by worm guts, a mid-credits scene.

body count: 8, plus one regurgitation.

acting: Michael Gross is back again as Burt. This time he has a sidekick/companion in Jamie Kennedy. Pearl Thusi is a veterinarian who, it turns out, is combat-proficient. Brandon Auret (who would go on to play the lead in 2016's Planet of the Sharks) is a hunter/guide who's kind of an asshole. Ian Roberts is a tough, crusty old helicopter pilot.

final word: This series somehow continues to entertain - an unexpected and pleasant surprise, given the genre.
