"I'm just doing this gig, trying to make the best of a bad situation, looking for redemption in all the wrong places. Stop me now if I'm rambling."   - Hauser

release year: 2008
genre: dark comedy
viewing setting: home Bluray 6/20/20

synopsis: A corporate fixer must deal with his company's interests in a Middle Eastern country.

impressions: I checked this out because I had read that it was an unofficial sequel or cousin to Grosse Pointe Blank...but that didn't turn out to be true. This is actually a satire of politics and business, with a few funny moments. Since I don't care for politics, much less satire of them, I didn't like this much.

acting: I don't even care. John Cusack is some kind of corporate hitman who drinks hot sauce to deal with stress. Marisa Tomei is a politically-opposite journalist who he falls for. Hilary Duff is a middle Eastern pop singer. Ben Kingsley is the evil boss. Dan Aykroyd is another boss. Joan Cusack is an assistant with attitude.

final word: Don't be fooled, this isn't a sequel of any kind and it isn't that fun.
