Wild Beauty - "Solo Bushcraft - Shelter under a strange rock, Watching the full moon on the mountain"

release date: 9/23/2021
genre: wilderness Youtube channel
viewing setting: streaming 10/12/23

synopsis: This Youtube channel shares videos of a woman roaming the jungle and building, killing, cooking, and eating things.

impressions: This is my first-ever review of segments from someone's dedicated Youtube channel. The basic idea here seems to be that this woman wanders the wilds of Vietnam and does all sorts of bush-crafty things (the channel doesn't do much in the way of explanation or publicity, it's all content really.) I've started watching these, when I can, in their release order; I'll provide the original release date and some hopefully-entertaining details about what happened in the episode. This apparent first segment clocks in at 26 minutes and features the woman eating some fruit, making a shovel, digging out the area beneath a large flat rock, pausing to create some shade, gathering underbrush for bedding, getting bored in the middle of her nap and cutting down some small trees in order to build a fence, building a field stove to cook the raw octopus she brought along (with vegetables and spices too!), her dog refusing to try the grilled octopus, a full moon after everyone's asleep. You have to admire the tenacity of this woman - at one point she's sweating and just stops her digging, cuts down a leafy bush, plants it behind her to shield her from the hot sun, then picks up her shovel and gets back to digging. So there's also her dog, which seems maybe older and a bit lazy...it often get carried and generally just lies around with one or no eyes open.

acting: There's no acting; this is a woman doing cool stuff in the wilderness.

final word: Interesting bushcraft/survival web content.
