Wild Beauty - "My hands are healed - Conveniently make a bamboo hammock chair"

release date: 11/19/2021
genre: wilderness Youtube channel
viewing setting: streaming 10/19/23

synopsis: This Youtube channel shares videos of a woman roaming the jungle and building, killing, cooking, and eating things.

impressions: This episode, clocking in at 22 minutes, continues to show us how much of a machine this woman is. It starts off with the sister doing some fishing, then being enlisted to help remove the cast/bandage, after which they both seem pleased with the healing (it's hard to tell what the wound actually was, and they never talk about it.) So with her newly-healed arm ready for action, on goes the coolie hat, the dog runs ahead, and it's go time. She cuts down a shitload of bamboo and saws it up, although I'll say again that her non-sawing hand's fingers seem a bit too close to the saw blade. The dog is right there in the work area, so she has to tell him to move. Then it rains, which doesn't slow her down one bit. She builds a chair frame and then the back/seat part, all out of bamboo. She tries it out, and so does the dog. Not satisfied with all the work done so far, she then proceeds to construct a table out of bamboo, and she's going to need it, because her fishing efforts finally yield a big, fat catch! Naturally, both dogs are suddenly present, as if they know dinner's now a sure thing. She washes and cuts the fish, then heads over with the basket she made in a past episode, to the garden they planted in a past episode, to get some vegetables and HOLY SHIT THERE'S A THIRD AND FOURTH DOG !!! She summons her sister (who's now got the coolie hat on) for dinnertime. They throw all the food in a big pot, and she shows her sister the chair she made. Meanwhile, the main dog hangs around underneath the cooking table. Oddly enough, there is no evidence that the dog asked for, or got, any of the food this time.

acting: There's no acting; this is a woman doing cool stuff in the wilderness.

final word: Interesting bushcraft/survival web content.
