She cuts some firewood and then pulls out a whole chicken, which gets put on a spit over the fire - and that gets the dog's attention, so he gets some of that hot, succulent meat. In fact, it's so good that the dog won't let the monkey get his share, and the woman has to distract the dog in order to successfully feed the monkey.
