impressions: This 39-minute episode is part 8 of the current arc, and opens with Wild Beauty making a spear out of her knife and a bamboo shaft. I guess the dog's okay from the nighttime adventures of the previous episode (whatever they might have been) since it's lying there sleeping while all the work happens. Wild Beauty affixes her headlamp (even though it's daytime) and grabs her new spear and off she goes...trailed by the dog and monkey. She follows the stream into a narrow tunnel/cave - thus the need for the headlamp - and soon she's on the hunt for the big lizard from last night. It's dark and half-filled with water and cramped; to be honest, there's no way in hell I'd go in there. Though she's tenacious, she can't find the lizard, so what does she do? She leaves, forages in the woods for bamboo and vines and rocks, and spends the next few hours building a trap outside the big lizard's cave. Naturally, it's then time for a bath in the pond. Meanwhile, the monkey plays with the lace of her shoe, and the dog is nowhere to be seen (but almost certainly asleep somewhere nearby.) Next thing you know, everyone's back at home base and she's weaving a basket. No, it's a bowl. Night falls and she takes her basket (or bowl) and her hunting equipment and returns to the cave and trap. On the way, she does some night fishing to acquire bait for the trap she made earlier, and all is in readiness. She makes a fire somewhere nearby and cooks the fish she didn't use as bait, plus some small shrimp she'd also caught using her basket-bowl. The familiar dinner routine plays out once more: she and the monkey eat while the dog sleeps despite fresh hot food being put right by its mouth. I don't think I've ever seen a dog this lazy, to be honest. Ah, there it goes...after a few minutes of everyone else chowing down, the dog finally wakes up and eats some of the meat that's being offered. It's about damn time, buddy. Flash forward to 1:45 am and there's a tiny little frog staring at the camera. Of course it is. And here comes the big lizard, slowly and carefully slithering out of its cave lair. It spends some time staring at the fish in the trap, as if it knows something's not right. Or does it? It goes underwater as it nears the trap (that's not gonna help) and...TUBE CONTINUED, as Wild Beauty likes to caption at the end of some videos.
