Without Remorse

release year: 2021
genre: action
viewing setting: home Bluray 8/9/22

synopsis: After his team is betrayed and then his family murdered, an elite soldier sets out for revenge.

impressions: The original novel was set in the ending days of the Vietnam War, and was very much tied to that time period. This movie updates everything, but in doing so doesn't stick close to its roots. Nevertheless, it's a solid military thriller with plenty of action and espionage. One scene I liked was when he was in his cell and knew that armed guards were coming to get him, and prepared/fought accordingly.

acting: Michael B. Jordan is the main soldier, who's lost everything and wants some payback. Jodie Turner-Smith is his commanding officer; despite women not being eligible for BUD/S training at this time, she's one tough offier.) Guy Pearce is the Secretary of Defense. Jamie Bell is a suspicious CIA guy..

final word: Solid action/revenge movie that strays quite a bit from the source material.
